mail 02, research collab

advanced diwali greetings to you sir

taking off from our conversation, parts of which we have touched on earlier too research collaboration is a tricky space. somewhere i think you are still coming off from the pica listing exercise ideas on research projects. this i must say is a genre and promoted by mmrhcs. but generally when one gives funding they look at research experience of all individuals submitting the proposal and not whether who provides what services. largely a takeoff on how neera and gang conducts business.

research is a new trend much popularized by you know who. and if you were to note some of the newer firms such as rotor, research is part of their work flow. our chums new website — [http://rmaarchitects.com/]( http://rmaarchitects.com/). you guys http://www.aedage.com/, http://www.linkedin.com/pub/ruta-sinhasane/12/75a/906 come off as very cut and dry. its very difficult to have or be part of city research if there is even a hint of developer stain as social inclinations are that which are popular simply because research is the premise of academia.

it would be almost viable to say that the reason i cannot get into full fledged practise is the same you can’t get into research. largely the issue of image. the same way its going to take me some time to get to buildings it may take you, may be less, to get to research. image problem one could say. an alternative to city projects is to work on book ideas or exhibitions. research should ideally be seen as an ongoing concern. financial model to the same have to be worked in into the workflow of effectively pretty much most you come by. also some that folks do is to be part of colleges and do their research their. and building at home. as in the case of oma/ amo its a systemic mutually beneficial system singular entity [if you do note they also do everything, just don’t say or use dated terms]. aedage pvt ltd/ machimach, inc — am not sure how keen we both are as we seem aiming in two directions.

just to reiterate of give you a low down on all things research [methodological investigations] aka available city domains

a) mmrda mmrhcs conservation projects

b) institutional researches _ krvia/ rachna design cell

c) research papers

d) project reviews _ we tried one — house on a stream by architecture brio — extremely ok, good learnings

e) group exhibition _ bmw project you mention was an invited exercise. people get invited to spaces only if they have some viable to point out and people want to hear them, or if they know the organisers

f) book ideas

g) branding _ only if there is a definite architecture angle is it directly worth it otherwise one stretches resources

h) community projects

theBusride seems to have figured some but i don’t particularly endorse the work. methods and tactics they use is some that works. their bandra/ ranwar exercises definately stands out. largely because they collaborate between architects and graphic designers. they also kinda taken over the neighborhood where they are located. research generally leads to a product or to a finding that needs to be useful one way or the other. largely what is it that you want to create and what is that creation doing as result of its existence.

because of publication obsessions have concentrated on website rather than office space to conduct or exchange life goals. so most of the projects/ ideas am polishing to an extent and push it from there. thus will send that when its done. not sure how meeting will add to notes but you let me know when you want me around. email works fine with me so if you have some ideas you have worked on do send it across. yesterday location wise phone conversation didn’t work but other phone is just fine. if not skype too am alright.

regards

isaac
